California Trip Day 4 Part 3- Last Night in Disneyland

After dinner we went back to the hotel room to change and we had a wonderful surprise waiting for us. (We have no idea who they were from although we're thinking its just what Grand Californian gives people who are celebrating)

The only bad thing is that we were so stuffed from dinner that we didn't eat any (I may or may not have had 2 for breakfast the next day :)  )  I wish we had gotten them the first night so we had time to enjoy them.

I also had to take a picture of this sign that make sure to tell you what a fire alarm sounds like (in case you didn't know!)

And I just now realized that I forgot to post about the Mickey's Soundsational Parade.  I took these pics with my camera too so I played around some first

Anyways, after we changed we went down through California Adventure since it was sunset and I wanted to get some good shots of Carsland.

I was STUFFED!  But I had to make one more stop at the Cozy Cone Motel for Dill popcorn to eat later that night during Fantasmic.  Kory fixed it so I wouldn't spill any.

We left California Adventure and entered Disneyland to watch the fireworks.

Playing around first

Not such a great shot (and the cast member that took it said he knew how to use my camera because he used to work for PhotoPass...eek!)

Fireworks time!

(the castle is blurry but I loved the lines)

We waited for the crowd to die down a bit then went to wait for Fantasmic.  I hate how Disneyland has this set up.  The sitting down for an hour squashed is just no fun.  We literally couldn't move our legs at all.  Luckily the family next to us was fun and playing a 20 questions game and included us so the time passed quickly.  As much as I hate the seating issue, I do think DL's version of Fantasmic is better than WDW's.

Unfortunately, I had a hard time with camera settings at the beginning.  I'm super new at it and with the distance, sitting on the ground, and lighting, I didn't get much until the end.

We had time for one more ride so we decided to do Splash Mountain.  We left it for last so we could change right after.  Luckily I thought ahead of time to get a bag from a merchandise location to put my camera in so it wouldn't get wet.  And I'm so glad I did.  That was the wettest I have EVER gotten on Splash Mountain!  I don't know if DL is always worse or just this time but man was I soaked.  Kory was in front and I was behind him and the waves would just come over the boat!  And the worst part is--we got stuck.  Going up the big hill, the ride stopped for about 30 seconds.  Then right before you enter the last room after the big hill, we got stopped for about 15 minutes.  There were obnoxious kids in our boat and the boat behind us and they were screaming things and being stupid.  But that's the first time I've ever been evacuated off the ride so it was kind of interesting.  They took us backstage for a minute to get us out so now I can say I've been backstage at DL too.  One annoying thing--they gave us FastPasses for any ride at DL or California Adventure.  Cool right??  EXCEPT that it was only good for that day, it was 11:55 and the park closed at 12:00!!  Gah!  Nobody could use them.  I think that if we were going to be there the following day, I would have asked if there would be a way to use them but instead I just handed them off to the kids behind us.

So our night ended on an interesting note.  I was sad to leave.  We got up and took the Super Shuttle the next morning.  It was actually waiting for us when we walked out and except for the 2 random stops at houses on the way to the airport, it was fairly uneventful.  We flew Virgin and Kory saw Danny Ainge (general manager for the Boston Celtics) so our celebrity sighting was at 2.

When we landed in Orlando, there was a huge storm going on so we were stuck on the ground in the plane for an hour and 15 minutes.  We did not have luck that trip with getting off planes!

But we had such a fun trip!  The wedding was beautiful and I loved Disneyland!  We managed to get almost everything done in only 2 and half days.  The only things we missed were at DL Tom Sawyers Island, The Sailing Ship Columbia, Mark Twain Riverobat, Dumbo, Alice In Wonderland (closed for refurb), Gadget Go Coaster (we got in line but it was an hour wait and no FastPass), Finding Nemo (closed for refurb), Space Mountain (closed for refurb) and Star Tours (I can't do simulator rides).  At California Adventure, we only missed It's Tough to be a Bug (they were showing Maleficent clips), King Triton's Carousel, Silly Symphony Swings (Kory can't do swings) and  Grizzly River Run (closed for refurb).  So not bad!!

I can't wait until we can visit again!
