What did I get myself into??

Well, I did it!  I signed up for the Walt Disney World Marathon!  Actually Kristin (a mom on the run) did it for me while I was at work--thank you!  I'm so nervous yet excited!

I need to figure out what training plan I am going to use.  For my 10 miler and Half Marathons, I've always used the Jeff Galloway program and loved it.  I'm just not sure that I can run 20 miles or more 3 times.  Plus it doesn't work with the 3 half marathons and 10 miler that I have planned.

Right now I am thinking the Hal Higdon Novice 2 Marathon plan.  It seems to fit well with the races that I have planned (only having to switch up 2 weekends).  It runs 4 times a week, instead of the the three I'm used to.  I like giving my legs a rest between running days, but I'm guessing that maybe this is what I need to get ready for 26.2.  His plan only takes you up to 20 miles one time.  I'm just scared that it might not be enough.

Any insight on which plan to use?

  4. My plan is to somehow get to the finish line upright and under my own power. I think the Galloway plan is the most gentle and forgiving, the least likely to cause injury, so that's what I'm planning on using. Planning on taking the 1st 3 races super easy to save my feet. I'll only speed up in the 2nd half of the marathon if I feel up to it. This isn't a time for PR's for me!
