I ran a long run of 8 miles this weekend. I gave myself permission to go a little slower, as long as I kept it above 11:30. And except for mile 7 (which was 11:33), I did and my overall pace was 11:12. I felt pretty good during the run. Energy was high and only very slight twinges in my calves and knees. So I was feeling confident..until later in the day when I realized that during marathon training, my 8 milers were 45 seconds per mile faster. Grr! Also, my calves are hurting. I'm hoping its mostly muscle and I can't tell if there's bone pain too (although it does hurt some when I press on the bone). I don't really know how to deal with it or fix it. I'm stretching it/rolling it all of the time but it doesn't seem to do any good.
