Weekly Recap- December 23-29, 2013

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!  We certainly did!  It was so great to just relax and enjoy time with family.

I was going to run the Jacksonville Bank Half Marathon on Sunday but I wanted to wait til the last minute to sign up to make sure I was feeling okay and I'm so glad I didn't.  I ran on Tuesday and Thursday and my leg was killing me.  I'm pretty sure that I've narrowed it down to the shoes.  Last time I got fitted, they put me in stability shoes, even though I'd always worn guidance shoes.  He assured me it was the right fit.  It wasn't.  Now my ankle is bothering me and I'm worried about a stress fracture in my upper shin.  I got new shoes today, Asics 2002 2.  I'm planning on walking around in them for the next 2 weeks but I'm not sure I'm going to run in them.  I want to rest my leg as long as possible.  I hope that's the right decision!

Tuesday--5.01 miles in 54:06 ( Mile 1: 9:50, Mile 2: 11:10, Mile 3: 11:14, Mile 4: 11:16, Mile 5: 10:33, average pace: 10:48)

Thursday--4 miles in 42:46 (Mile 1: 9:34, Mile 2: 11:26, Mile 3: 11:19, Mile 4: 10:28, average pace: 10:42)

Total miles this week: 9.01
Total  miles in 2013: 642.50
Total miles: 1067.99

  1. Did I just read "stress fracture?" Are you going to get it checked out before the marathon? I'm hoping it's all okay. Hopefully your new shoes make a difference. Looking forward to seeing you during marathon weekend!

    1. I'm not sure that's what it is. But it feels like the symptoms and when I was at the two running stores this weekend, both guys that helped said that's what they think it is. I'm hoping its not. I'm gonna keep foam rolling and icing it. No doctor before the race--I don't want him telling me I can't run. I hope to see you too!

  2. Jax Bank was my goal race for this entire year of training. I got injured rather badly in late October and we knew I had to pull out. I was so so disappointed..until I saw the weather this sunday! Happy running to you- I'll be one of the volunteers handing out your heat sheets at the end of the Disney Princess!!!

PS: I read of your shoe issues. If you have trouble with the Asics, go back to the saucony and put a heel cup (tullis) that will take care of the 0mm drop.) :) Happy Running!

    1. I'm so sorry you got injured! And honestly, I felt the same way--the weather made it so I wasn't sad that I was missing the race! I want to volunteer for a Disney race one day!!

ooh..I hadn't thought of a heel cup...I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
